About Karen
Originally from Ft. Thomas, KY, I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a degree in Journalism and have lived in the Charlotte, NC area since 1999.
Prior to earning my real estate license in 2007, I worked in the corporate world for 13 years, first with International Paper and then with First Union/Wachovia. As a child, however, I grew up in real estate.
Growing up with a realtor mom and a builder dad, I always knew real estate was something I wanted to do. Taking the corporate route first gave me a great foundation that helped me to be successful in my real estate business by learning to cultivate and grow relationships, learning how to manage a business, and learning how to communicate with people at all levels of a business.
When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my family, my husband (the best partner ever!), Roger, and our two daughters, McKenzie and Anja. We love to watch movies, cook and eat together and experience new things.
Outside of my family, I get my energy from the water. I have been a competitive swimmer since my youth, and I currently swim with Mecklenburg Swim Association Masters team. While I love getting my early morning dose of energy at regular practices, I still love the thrill of competing in both pool and open water events every so often!
Having always been a big supporter of cancer research, I’ve walked twice in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, which is a 2-day, 39.3-mile walk. I was fortunate to raise nearly $4,000 over my two years. I also volunteer my time and body to cancer research by participating in a long-term cancer research study. Researchers will follow me for many years, periodically take my blood, and will continue to learn about my lifestyle choices and how those relate to others and to cancer diagnoses. My mom and grandmother passed away from cancer, so I believe this is important work.
I am equally passionate about brain injury awareness, specifically brain aneurysms. I know more about this subject than I wish anyone will have to know. An immediate family member suffered a ruptured aneurysm, which is fatal in about half of the cases. Fortunately, he did make a full recovery. However, this was a clear lesson and reminder about how delicate life is, and how we need to be thankful and purposeful every day.
I enjoy helping people, and I pride myself on providing great client service and support. I specialize in helping a seller with selling her home quickly and for the highest price possible, as well as in helping a buyer find his dream house. I also enjoy helping empty nesters to downsize into smaller homes when they no longer need a lot of space, and helping successful sellers with negotiations when they have multiple offers.
Having lived in the Charlotte area since 1999 and having experienced its explosive growth, I have the knowledge and experience that will work for you!! But don't take my word for it, check out my client testimonials HERE.
I know the area, and I know how to get real estate transactions done with as little stress as possible! This can be especially important for a first-time homebuyer or first-time home seller who can find the whole process a little overwhelming. Whether you need help with finance and finding a home loan, relocation or buying a custom home, I can help you every step of the way.
Looking forward to helping you!
